My story
A lifetime of bringing people together—and the story behind The Loved Society.
I’ve been bringing people together for most of my life.
I started traveling internationally as a teenager, mostly on group humanitarian trips that took me around the world. Those experiences taught me early on that some of the strongest connections happen when people step outside their normal routines and experience something together. I was so energized by the connections I made and experiences I had while traveling that I quickly started recruiting friends and other teenagers to join me on volunteer trips, creating lifelong memories and friendships along the way.
I moved to Dallas for a job in my late 20s, and didn't know anyone in town. I made an intentional effort to not just meet people, but to make real friends. As I met more and more interesting people, I started bringing people together and including people I'd met as a way to spark friendships. I hosted countless dinner parties and game nights, threw big annual celebrations, made intentional playlists based on who was attending, created trivia games about my friends and designed playful activities for friends' birthdays or bachelorette parties.
I started inviting new friends to travel with me- all over the world. Over the years, I designed dozens of fun-filled itineraries for our global adventures, from mountain biking down Cotopaxi to island hopping in the Caribbean to surfing in Costa Rica.
Strangers who once accepted my invitation to a dinner party became some of my closest friends and travel partners over time.
I didn’t think of any of this as a particular talent at the time. I just loved creating experiences that were inclusive and full of laughter and connection.
Life looks very different for me now. I’m a solo mom by choice to a wonderful little girl, and like a lot of overwhelmed parents, I’m simply unable to host and organize adventures the way I used to. But I really miss that connection with the people I love. I'm so clearly aware that wanting more connection and actually making it happen are two very different things.
We’re busy. We’re tired. Time feels incredibly limited. Sometimes we want to make someone we love feel special but don’t have the capacity to throw a surprise bash. Sometimes we want to have people over but don’t know what to do once everyone arrives. And sometimes we yearn for new connections and interesting people in our lives but aren’t quite sure how to make that happen.
That’s where The Loved Society comes from.
I wanted to take something I’ve always loved doing—creating thoughtful, memorable experiences—and make it easier for others.
The Loved Society creates experiences that give you the idea, the structure, and the little details that help bring people together. I've created activities around the following themes: Host, Gather, Celebrate, Gift and Go. I'm starting with a few experiences, with more ideas to come.
The TEN THINGS guided gift experience is designed to make someone special feel seen and loved. And the Charades Night Host Kit, complete with game supplies, a host guide, a playlist, and a recipe for a crowd, makes it really easy for you to create a memorable gathering. A really fun friend, family and colleague trivia game is coming soon, just in time for the holiday parties.
The common thread between everything I design is that the entire experience changes depending on who is participating, either by answering the prompts, contributing their own trivia questions or choosing titles. That’s the whole point.
I hope The Loved Society gives you more reasons to gather, give, play, celebrate, connect, and create the kinds of moments you’ll still be talking about years from now.
Together, we’re becoming a more loved society.
